Captains of InDustry

They’ve been compared to the Gin Blossoms, Tom Petty, Dawes, and My Morning Jacket. Theirs’ is a genre that will never go out of favor: American rock and roll, done well. Because of that, there’s a certain timeless and universal appeal to the Captains' music—songs that incorporate the influences of many bands that have preceded them, with the end result being somehow familiar, yet entirely and excitingly mew.

Familiar yet new is an appropriate way to think about Captains of Industry. The band is made up of four Boston music veterans (vocalist/guitarist Daniel Rodriguez, vocalist/bassist Aaron Kammerer, vocalist/guitarist Jason Fidler, drummer JakeDavey) who over the years have hundreds, if not thousands of shows between them. They themselves have played together in various outfits across the many famous stages in the Boston and New England region. But it was only in the summer of 2019 that they decided to come together for some impromptu jamming in bassist Aaron Kammerer’s basement. Almost immediately the band knew they had a sound that could carve out its own space in the current rock and pop landscape.

They rehearsed. They got pretty good. They got gigs in Boston. They booked studio time, set to begin in March 2020…

Then the world stopped.

For nearly 18 months the Captains, lay dormant. But in the summer of 2021, they, like the rest of the world, began to pick up where they left off. The Captains recorded and then distributed their debut EP, “So Sweet” in December of 2021. In the year that followed, the first year in which the Captains were truly “out in the wild” so to speak, they (pun intended) capitalized. Multiple songs off So Sweet were featured on 92.5 The River and 88.9 WERS. They have played to sold out crowds at The Burren, The Bebop, The Middle East, The Jungle Community Club, and elsewhere. In January of 2023, they released their next single, fan favorite “Out Of My Body” which was quickly followed up by “Did It For The Green” in February.

Today, continue to gain momentum, booking gigs in and around Boston on a consistent basis and releasing new songs nearly every month. This is not their first rodeo, but it is the ride they’ve been preparing for their entire musical careers. Buckle up.
